Marseille is a French restaurant located close to the Theatre district of NY City. The menu is typically French inspired dishes with a full-service table service. Although we did not have reservations, we were able to obtain a table for two by the window, which had a nice view of the street activity. The front desk was fast and efficient, and table service was prompt after we were seated. The menu has a nice variety, and our meal consisted of a starter and entrees. Starters consisted of the Warm Goat Cheese Croustillant and Soupe a L'oignon Grantinee (French Onion Soup), which the soup was excellent with caramelized onions and melted gruyere. Entrees were served in good timing, Branzino and Jarret d'Agneau (braised lamb shank), both prepared very nice and a nice entrée portion. A nice bonus from them is recognizing our anniversary with a pair of complimentary drinks at the end of the meal. Like many of these restaurants, the table are close together, so private conversations and noise level is high, but other parts of the restaurant may be better away from the smaller tables. Overall, dinner was very well presented, and the food and service was respectable for a return visit if we found ourselves in this area again. Tips for your visit: Make reservations, especially if you are visiting prior to a theatre show.

I like marseille. It is a great theatre restaurant. Upscale. Good vibe. The service is ok. Probably because such a high turnover, not great. A bit on the noisy side. But. I love the ambiance. And a great fan of the Lillet cocktail!! Have fun!!

Best meal to have in new york before a show. The deal on bottomless mimosas is worth it enough. But there was nothing lacking with meal. Every part of the meal felt intentional

Love this spot for pre theater! Had lunch there before the matinee today and it worked perfectly. The service was wonderful, not rushed but gets you out in time for the curtain. I had the tuna Niçoise salad which was divine...nice rare ahi tuna, pretty presentation. The other two had burgers and fries and loved them. Warm rolls to start that are straight out of Paris!

I celebrated my birthday with some friends back in New York and we decided to go to Marseille, a nice french restaurant, I enjoy the cuisine so I had great expectations. Walking into Marseille you can tell it is a place for fine dining, the crowd was a bit older/mature, the restaurant was dimly lit, in my opinion it is a great place for a date or a family get together. The service was great, our waiter was very knowledgeable, the only negative was that the special for the day ran out and my friend had to settle for his second option. He was patient with us and never bothered us throughout our meal and I always appreciate that. Food was everything I imagined and more, we started off with some shrimp beignets as an appetizer, I had the Beef Short Rib and my friend had the Coq Au Vin, my beef was so tender it was the perfect compliment to the buttered noodles and rainbow carrots highly recommended!

What a wonderful experience at Marseille! My friends and I were greeted by friendly hostesses and taken quickly to our table. We had enough time to soak up the beautiful decor of the restaurant and our table was close to the bar which was lovely. Now for the food! We started with a few appetizers. The 3 piece fromage, grilled octopus and the warm goat cheese. The brie on the fromage plate was exquisite-so soft and creamy and full of flavor. The grilled octopus was seasoned and cooked to perfection. That warm goat cheese though...I highly recommend it! Our server was wonderful, providing suggestions and guidance which we were all thrilled with. After all the appetizers I chose to go with the spring risotto as my main dish and added some shrimp for a little protein-it was cooked perfectly! We ended with a lemon tarte which was the perfect flavors to bring the meal to a close. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Went for a group dinner and Marseille to celebrate a birthday. Restaurant was busy for a Monday night. We had a table by the window, perfect for people watching off 9th Avenue. We ordered many dishes to share. With apps, escargot, roasted beets, moules (mussels), and octopus. All of these apps were cooked deliciously. Especially the roasted beets, my fav. Also the mussels had a light coconut broth that was not salty and flavorful when dunked with bread. For entrees, we had family style of dishes. We ordered the steak frites, short ribs (which came with noodles), duck breast, and the best of them all the grande bouillabase. This had different sizes. However the grande had lobster, branzino, monkfish and tons of shell fish. My entire party raved about this dish! This was everyone's favorite, the flavor of the seafood stew was so delicious! And so reminiscent of the south of France! Additionally, since we were celebrating a birthday, our server gave us an extra cheesecake with a candle for our birthday girl! Very nice gesture! Overall, the service was excellent, did not felt rushed at all and very much a Parisian style. If you don't call the wait staff, they will leave you alone. This is such a rarity to find in nyc restaurant. Often restaurants come multiple times to check in even after you say something. Would definitely return if I am in the neighborhood.

New York City theater District staple. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating with a classic Parisian interior, and unlike most New York restaurants, good spacing between the tables so you don't feel like you're stacked on top of one another. Menu: great option for classic French staples, seafood, pastas. Extensive wine and drink menu. Food: - bouillabaisse: absolutely delicious and a perfect meal on a cold winter or fall day. Loved the bread that came with it and I would order of side of fries as it goes perfectly together. Only imperfection was one mussel shell was cracked. - crème brûlée: this is what it should taste like. Excellently done, and well executed. Service: waiters were attentive without being overbearing. We were able to split checks. Water glass was rarely empty. Overall would highly recommend to try, and it's worth a trek to the theater district
